Arnco Hardbanding Products - 100XT

Arnco 100XT represents a vastly improved hardbanding alloy. Its innovative metallurgical design delivers both adequate tool joint protection and one of the lowest casing wear factors in the industry. Arnco 100XT can be used ‘raised’ on drill pipe to increase tool joint wear life yet it will cause far less wear than tungsten carbide on casing, marine riser and BOPs.

The inherently low coefficient of friction that is a feature of Arnco 100XT’s metallurgical characteristics significantly reduces wear caused by contact between the drill string, casing and marine risers and BOPs and can extend the economic life of all the equipment involved.

Features and Advantages
  • Arnco 100XT is a ferrous based alloy containing chromium, manganese and molybdenum.
  • Additional alloying elements are used to control the mode of solidification from the molten weld pool and the subsequent solid state transformation, to generate a fine-grained microstructure.
  • A 50+ Rc micro-hardness ensures an optimum balance between tool joint protection and casing wear prevention.
  • A crack-free overlay may be achieved when applied as specified in the Arnco Hardbanding Specification Manual. Please Note: This is a very large file!
  • A 4/32” (2,4 mm) raised application provides maximum casing, marine riser, BOP. and tool joint wear resistance.
  • 1/16” (1.6 mm) diameter wire on a level wound spool.
  • Welded in reverse Polarity (DCEP) to give a deeper penetration and higher resistance to spalling.

Arnco 100XT is also available in a self-shielded, open arc version called 100XT-OA. This version requires no shielding gas and can be applied anywhere in the world without having to be concerned about locating and purchasing shielding gas. This is extremely beneficial to field applicators operating in the remote areas of the world. For instance, in one of the African countries, a cylinder of CO2 shielding gas, if it is available, would sell for approximately US$300. That same cylinder of gas in the USA would sell for US$30. For this reason, a hardbanding wire that requires a shielding gas can dramatically increase the cost of hardbanding. The welding parameters and the performance characteristics are the same as our original gas shielded version of Arnco 100XT. Application parameters are specified in theArnco Hardbanding Specification Manual. Please Note: This is a very large file!
